Ripple has carried out its scheduled August escrow release, unlocking 1 billion XRP worth approximately $1.08 billion as part of its long-running supply management program.
Data shared by Whale Alert on August 2 showed the release occurred in three separate transactions.
Ripple unlocked 500 million XRP valued at about $532.86 million, 300 million XRP worth roughly $319.65 million, and another 200 million XRP valued at approximately $213.11 million.

The latest XRP escrow unlock is part of a mechanism Ripple introduced in December 2017 to improve transparency around the cryptocurrency’s supply.
Under the system, up to 1 billion XRP is released from escrow on the first day of every month. However, Ripple typically returns a significant portion of the unlocked tokens to new escrow contracts.
Throughout 2026, the company has generally re-locked around 700 million XRP per month, leaving a net addition of about 300 million XRP for operational use, liquidity services, partnerships, and ecosystem development.
Following the August release, XRP’s circulating supply stands at about 62.5 billion tokens, while more than 32 billion XRP remains locked in escrow.
Historically, Ripple’s monthly escrow releases have had little impact on XRP’s price because the schedule is public and largely priced in. The August unlock came with XRP trading around $1.05, showing minimal market reaction.
The net supply increase also remains relatively small since Ripple typically returns a large portion of the unlocked tokens to escrow.
Although the monthly release attracts attention, XRP’s near-term direction will likely depend more on Bitcoin’s (BTC) performance, broader crypto market sentiment, and macroeconomic conditions.
XRP price analysis
By press time, XRP was trading at $1.08, up more than 2% over the past 24 hours. However, the token remained down about 1% on the weekly timeframe.

At the same time, XRP is showing modest stability following the August escrow unlock amid subdued market momentum.
The asset remains in a consolidation phase, with immediate support between $1.05 and $1.06, a key demand zone that has repeatedly held in recent weeks.
A decisive break below this range could expose XRP to a move toward $1.02 and the psychological $1 level.
On the upside, initial resistance sits at $1.09 near the 20-day EMA, followed by stronger barriers at $1.10 and the $1.12-$1.15 range.
Holding above $1.06 while reclaiming $1.09 would strengthen the short-term bullish outlook. Conversely, a failure to defend the $1.05 support area could trigger deeper corrective pressure in an otherwise neutral-to-cautious technical setup.
